Tsíikik Óol U K’iinil Jaajalil — Autumn Equinox Ceremony

Mark the autumn equinox with a community ceremony rooted in Maya tradition at the Centro Cultural in Playa del Carmen.

Tsíikik Óol U K’iinil Jaajalil reflects on the seasonal cycle associated with Kukulcán, agriculture, rain and the harvest. In Maya cosmovision, the autumn equinox marks the close of an important agricultural cycle and a time to give thanks for the milpa, the rains and the food produced from the land.

The evening will include the traditional Janal Kóol, a communal act of gratitude honoring the gods and Kukulcán before the cycle turns toward the next season.
