Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas Fishing Tournament

The boats line up, the radios crackle, and the competition is on. One of Cozumel’s most anticipated sport fishing events returns May 15–17, bringing serious prize money and serious bragging rights to the island.

The 55th edition of the Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas will award more than $900,000 pesos in prizes, including:

🏆 1st Place: $500,000
 🥈 2nd Place: $250,000
 🥉 3rd Place: $150,000
 👨‍✈️ Best Captain: $30,000
 ⚓ Best Sailor: $25,000

Beyond the payouts, this tournament is a long-standing Caribbean tradition—three days of early launches, offshore strategy, and dockside storytelling once the lines are in. Teams from across the region gather to test their skill and endurance in Cozumel’s deep blue waters.

Whether you’re competing or watching the weigh-ins, it’s one of those weekends when the island’s maritime identity takes center stage.

Pre-registration runs from April 1 through April 30 at a cost of 8,500 pesos at the Subdirección de Desarrollo Económico offices in Altos Plaza del Sol, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. General registration opens May 1 and remains available through the Captains’ Dinner.
