Janal Pixán 2026 — Monday Night
The third day of Janal Pixán offers a particularly meaningful look at the Maya traditions behind the celebration. In addition to the festivities at Plaza 28 de Julio, visitors can experience a solemn evening ceremony at the Municipal Cemetery featuring traditional Maya prayers, ceremonial music and performances.
The U Xiimbal Pixano'ob — Procession of Souls also returns, this time traveling from Parque Lázaro Cárdenas toward the Municipal Cemetery. Meanwhile, the main plaza continues its celebration with traditional altars, regional cuisine, an artisan market and cultural performances. A Catrín and Catrina costume competition adds a colorful finale to the evening's public festivities.
