Isla Mujeres hosts the 21st edition of the Cosme Alberto Martínez Magaña International Fishing Tournament May 22–24, with a prize pool of more than 900,000 pesos — including 360,000 pesos for first place. Now considered one of the region’s premier sport fishing events, the tournament draws national and international competitors to the island each year.

The three-day program begins with a traditional Captains’ Dinner on May 22, followed by two full days of offshore competition on May 23 and 24. The event concludes with an awards ceremony on the afternoon of May 24 at Playa Centro. Beyond the competition, the tournament is a major boost for local tourism, celebrating Isla Mujeres’ strong maritime tradition and vibrant sport fishing culture.
