2nd Festival of Black Dances in Cancún

<p>💃 Cancún will host the second edition of the <strong>Festival of Black Dances: Afro-Caribbean Reflections 2026</strong> from <strong>August 6 to 12</strong>, bringing together artists, dancers, academics, and cultural voices from across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America. The festival is dedicated to African heritage, Afro-Caribbean dance, ancestral memory, identity, and contemporary perspectives on Black and Afro-descendant cultures.<br><br>Participants will come from <strong>Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela</strong>, along with representatives from <strong>Mexico City, Chiapas, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, and Veracruz</strong>.<br><br>The Cancún program will include <strong>dance performances, workshops, keynote lectures, and documentary screenings</strong> at different cultural venues around the city.<br><br>Organized by Mexico’s Ministry of Culture through <strong>INBAL</strong> and the <strong>National Dance Coordination</strong>, in collaboration with the <strong>Institute of Culture and Arts of the Municipality of Benito Juárez</strong>, the festival aims to create space for reflection, artistic exchange, and greater visibility for Afro-Caribbean traditions and identities.<br><br><strong>August 6 – 12, 2026</strong><br><strong>Various venues in Cancún</strong><br><strong>Dance | Workshops | Lectures | Documentaries | Afro-Caribbean culture</strong><br><strong>Full program and venues to be announced</strong></p>
