Tsunami Cancún Comicon
Tsunami Cancún Comic Con returns to Cancún Center for two packed days of anime, comics, cosplay, K-pop, video games and pop culture, with guest appearances, competitions, gaming tournaments, performances and opportunities to meet some familiar voices from Latin American film and television.
This year's guest list includes several well-known Mexican voice actors. Alfonso Obregón is the Latin American Spanish voice of Shrek as well as Kakashi in Naruto and Bugs Bunny; Pepe Toño Macías is known as the voice of Deadpool, Captain America and James from Team Rocket in Pokémon; Víctor Ugarte has voiced Harry Potter, Sasuke Uchiha in Naruto, Shinji Ikari in Evangelion and Goten in Dragon Ball Z; and Uraz Huerta is known for characters including Shaoran Li in Cardcaptor Sakura, Matt and Agumon in Digimon, and Inosuke in Demon Slayer.
International guest Kevin Duhaney also joins the convention. The Canadian actor played Ethan James, the Blue Dino Ranger in Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and later returned to the franchise in Power Rangers S.P.D. He has also worked extensively in voice acting, including Cameron in Total Drama.
The weekend includes a strong cosplay and performance component. Mexican World Cosplay Summit champions Banana Cospboys will present their Saja Boys show, combining cosplay and K-pop. Fans can also participate in K-pop Dance Cover competitions, including solo and Ultimate categories.
Gamers can compete in tournaments including Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart and The King of Fighters 2002, while illustrators and independent creators will have their own space in the convention's Artist Alley. A dedicated Cosplay Fraternity area gives cosplayers another opportunity to exhibit their work and connect with the community.
