Night Festival of Mayan Legends
Spend an evening with the stories and creative traditions of Quintana Roo’s Maya Zone. This new community festival brings together local artists, artisans and residents to share legends and knowledge passed down through their communities.
The planned program includes theater, dance, music, painting, sculpture and artistic makeup, along with an artisan market, the Seres del Monte art exhibition, a choral performance in Maya titled Loj K’aash, and body painting inspired by Maya deities. The festival will also highlight local writers and encourage reading in connection with Mexico’s National Book Day on November 12.
Residents with stories to share, as well as artisans and exhibitors, are invited to participate. Organizers hope to make the festival an annual gathering.
