Frida Kahlo Festival: The Life of an Icon
Art, community, and tradition come together in Playa del Carmen for the 8th edition of the Frida Kahlo: The Life of an Icon Festival.
From July 6 to 22, 2026, the Frida Kahlo Museum in Playa del Carmen will become an open canvas for workshops, local projects, cultural activities, and community celebration. This year’s festival highlights unity in diversity, with a full calendar of creative events for residents and visitors.

The festival closes with a traditional Mexican “fiesta de traje,” or potluck-style celebration. Guests are invited to dress up inspired by Frida, bring a fresh flower for the collective monumental altar, and enjoy the Gran Fandango with live mariachi music.
