24th Annual Sea Turtle Festival

Celebrate one of the Riviera Maya’s most beloved residents at the 24th Festival de la Tortuga Marina, a three-day community festival dedicated to sea turtle conservation. Events move from Akumal to Tulum and finally Xcacel, with Maya traditions, parades, workshops, games, contests, music, films and family activities along the way.

Friday, October 23 | Akumal

4:40 PM — Official opening
5:00 PM — Jarana dancing by Nuevo Amanecer
5:30 PM — Dance contest

Saturday, October 24 | Tulum
4:00 PM — Sea Turtle Caravan from Av. Satélite and Av. Tulum to the Municipal Palace
4:30 PM — Kermés and Sea Turtle Cinema
7:30 PM — Photography contest presentation and awards, plus naming of the Sea Turtle Ambassador of the Year
8:30 PM — Music

Sunday, October 25 | Xcacel
2:00 PM — Registration for the sand sculpture contest
3:00 PM — Sand sculpture contest
3:00 PM — Sea Turtle Cinema
3:00 PM — Kermés with stands, games, workshops, dancing, music and photography exhibition
6:00 PM — Sand sculpture and drawing contest awards and naming of Sea Turtle Ambassadors
