18th Cozumel Island Bird Festival

📅 Wednesday, October 7, 2026 – October 11, 2026 📍 Cozumel, Q.R. 👤 Parque Nacional Arrecifes de Cozumel

Cozumel celebrates its remarkable birdlife with five days of birdwatching, science, conservation and family-friendly activities during the 18th Festival de las Aves Isla Cozumel.

Held October 7–11 in conjunction with World Migratory Bird Day 2026, this year’s festival highlights the role of participatory science in protecting the island’s biodiversity. One of the conservation goals is to keep attention focused on the critically rare Cozumel thrasher (Toxostoma guttatum), an endemic species that organizers hope may one day be rediscovered in the island’s forests.

The program includes conferences, guided birdwatching outings with local experts, citizen-science and scientific illustration workshops, an environmental fair, cultural activities and a screening of the documentary Flamingos: Life After the Meteorite.

The festival is designed to be accessible, inclusive and suitable for families, experienced birders and anyone interested in Cozumel’s natural environment.
