 ’s tradition of honoring loved ones who have died\, with ceremonies\, de
 corated boats\, altars\, music\, dance and community contests. Events take
  place in the seaside town on October 24 and November 1–2.\n\nSaturday\,
  October 24 — Opening celebration\nThe opening is expected to begin at 6
  PM with a Maya ceremony at the pier beside the leaning lighthouse. Plans 
 for the evening include a canoe procession\, cultural activities and conte
 sts featuring decorated boats and façades\, catrina and catrín costumes\
 , handmade catrinas and alebrijes\, and monumental catrinas.\n\nSunday\, N
 ovember 1 — Processions and remembrance\nActivities are expected to begi
 n at 6 PM with a Maya fire ceremony\, followed by a procession of decorate
 d boats on the Caribbean Sea and a walking procession through town. The wi
 der program includes the blessing of the municipal altar\, visits to altar
 s\, traditional dance and live performances.\n\nMonday\, November 2 — Fe
 stival continues\nMar de Almas continues with cultural programming in Puer
